Who we are
Analysis Situs Ltd was founded by entrepreneur and technologist Ryan Lavelle in 2010 in order to exploit opportunities in the freelance risk management technology consultancy business.
After a number of successful projects in diverse Tier 1 global financial institutions including Prudential UK, ING and HSBC, Ryan pivoted to entrepreneurial activities with a number of startups including Lancor Scientific, TracR, DotScience.
After an extended hiatus and refocusing on industry trends and personal branding USPs, Ryan relaunched business in June 2025 with a new focus on AI and technology driven business change, aiming to utilise his extensive industry network and expertise to support companies in their growth phase in the capacity of Non Executive Director.
What we do
"Analysis situs" is a Latin term coined by Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz meaning "analysis of position" or "geometry of position."
Leibniz introduced this concept in the late 17th century as his vision for a new branch of mathematics that would study geometric properties and relationships that remain unchanged under continuous deformations.
Leibniz conceived analysis situs as a qualitative geometry that would complement the quantitative methods of algebraic geometry and calculus. Rather than focusing on measurements, distances, and numerical calculations, this new geometry would investigate properties like connectivity, relative position, and spatial relationships that persist even when shapes are stretched, bent, or twisted without tearing.
In his correspondence and writings from the 1670s-1690s, Leibniz described analysis situs as a way to study "the art of discovering the properties of figures which depend only on situation and not on magnitude." He envisioned it as a purely logical and combinatorial approach to geometry that would reveal fundamental truths about spatial relationships. Leibniz's ideas were remarkably prescient. What he outlined as analysis situs would eventually develop into what we now call topology, one of the major branches of modern mathematics. Topology indeed studies properties that are preserved under continuous transformations - exactly what Leibniz had in mind centuries earlier.
At Analysis Situs Ltd, we utilise this method to develop a holistic framework for modelling both the internal and external context that shapes the operating environment of any business. The primary focus being its level of technological sophistication and adaptability to systemic shocks and disruption. To achieve this, we leverage both the traditional P.R.O.F.I.T system alongside the OpenExO foundation blueprint for exponential organisational design, coupled with a systematic approach to organisational topology as expressed in the SYSTEMology framework.
